The Kraken is a legendary sea monster from Scandinavian and Norse mythology, often depicted as a massive cephalopod, such as a giant squid or octopus. It is said to inhabit the deep waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, particularly between Norway and Iceland.
The legend of the Kraken may have originated from sightings of giant squids, which can grow up to 12–15 meters (40–50 feet) in length. The first modern descriptions of the Kraken were recorded in the early 18th century by travelers like Francesco Negri and Hans Egede.
